iOS 9.3 Now Available for Download; Brings Night Shift, Other New Features

Alongside the launch of the iPhone SE, and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, Apple also unveiled iOS 9.3, the latest iteration of its mobile operating system. iOS 9.3 features including Night Shift, and improvements to iOS for Education.

iOS 9.3 is available to download from Monday as a free update for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod models that support iOS 9 including the dated iPhone 4s, the iPad 2, and the first-generation iPad mini. As always, iOS updates are available over-the-air (OTA) on your device (Settings -> General -> Software Update) as well as via iTunes on your PC or Mac.

The biggest attraction in iOS 9.3 is Night Shift, a new display model that alters the tone and blue light emission of the device’s display to prevent eye strain. The company says that Night Shift can improve a person’s sleep quality while also offering some other health benefits.

Apple also announced improvements to News, the news reading app it had introduced with iOS 9 last year. The company says that it is adding “top stories” to Apple News, allowing users to keep a tab on the most happening stories of the moment. Apple is also giving third-party apps access to your Apple Music library.

Apple has also pushed some improvements to the visualisation of health data collected by the Health app. This, in turn, allows Health app to feed users with more information on their sleep, and other activities.

Apple also introduced improvements to the education framework for iPad tablets. Multiple students will be able to utilise the same iPad. The company is also giving school admins the ability to create Managed Apple IDs for students through Apple School Manager dashboard.
