Sometime last week, Mahindra called us to inform us that our long-termer Mojo was on its way. The phone call immediately made me start daydreaming as the possibilities that this bike provides are not easily provided by most of the motorcycles currently present in the Indian market.

The comfortable seating stance, the liquid-cooled 300cc engine delivering 26.8bhp of maximum power and 30Nm of optimum torque, the upside down forks at the front clubbed with an adjustable monoshock at the rear and the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres on both ends make it one of the most capable bikes not only on city roads, but also on highways when needed. The twin exhausts, twin headlamps and a very sporty looking radiator make it a head-turner.

The bike also seems to be an ideal machine for touring purposes, which is something I will be venturing out to find out soon. The 21-litre fuel tank makes it completely practical to plan those never-ending highway rides. The 320mm petal disc at the front and a 240mm at the rear work perfectly in sync with the super sticky tyres to stop the bike exactly when needed.

This is a bike which can be used in many ways; as a commuter, as a fun naked motorcycle, as a motorcycle you can flaunt in front of your friends, and a partner in every crime you can think of committing on a motorcycle. In the last few days, I have found the bike to be redlining effortlessly making it extremely easy to use the available power and torque in the entire rpm range.

As a dutiful member of our long term fleet, the Mahindra Mojo will be used to ferry me to office on a daily basis and also accompany me on my weekend escapades to either Himachal Pradesh or Uttaranchal. The 21-litre fuel tank and the tall stance make it a practical tourer and the comfortable riding stance and cushy seat ensure that you can keep riding this bike on long stretches without breaking a sweat. The Pirelli tyres on both the ends should not only make highway cruising effortless, but those twisty roads more rewarding as well.

The Mahindra Mojo is going to be our partner in crime for next six months and we will keep bringing you the updates on how it is to live with it. Stay tuned to know the performance, fuel efficiency on the city roads as well as on the highways, the capabilities and even the ‘not-so-good’ things about this promising product from Mahindra’s two-wheeler stable.
