OnePlus One's Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update in 'Final Testing Stage'

OnePlus had last year revealed its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update schedule for its devices where it said that the OnePlus One running Cyanogen OS will start receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the first quarter.

Now, the company’s co-founder and public face Carl Pei has confirmed that the Android Marshmallow for the OnePlus One was in the final testing stages. Unfortunately, Pei didn’t reveal the exact time of arrival of Marshmallow update. He said, “Marshmallow for the One is in the final testing stage. Can’t give ETA as it depends on other parties, but should be very soon.”

OnePlus late last month started rolling out near final build of OxygenOS 3.0 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the OnePlus 2 users.

The company, ahead of the official release, wanted the community’s help to make sure it worked without “any remaining kinks” before the official OTA update was made available to the general public. OnePlus was seeking feedback on three aspects – Network Testing, Camera, and Performance.

The new OxygenOS 3.0 build featured a cleaner UI, easy access to different modes and settings, under the camera department. Besides a new wallpaper picker, the update also brought improvements in Shelf UX, fingerprint performance, and general system performance. There were some changes made in the Settings section as well. The old app permissions were replaced by new native Android app permissions, Alert Slider was more customisable, and the Settings Menu readability was improved. The Android security patches for March also came as a part of OxygenOS 3.0.
