Foodpanda Pilots 30 Minute Delivery With 'Express Meals'

Rocket Internet’s Foodpanda has launched a pilot of its quick meal service in Gurgaon. The food ordering platform will be kicking off the launch with a curated menu of North Indian and Chinese combo meals in collaboration with three restaurants – Happy Hakka, Tughlaq, and Biryani Art.

Foodpanda will initially accept orders during lunch hours, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, with a 30 minute express delivery. The meals will be priced within the range of Rs. 149 to Rs. 225, and served in tower boxes, stored in high grade round plastic containers, the company said.

“The thought behind this originated with the desire to make available pre-set portions of favourite combos within 30 minutes of ordering. We are also cognizant of the fact that most of our corporate users prefer ordering meal combos instead of separate meals. We are doing a pilot run in Gurgaon with 3 restaurants and are confident these curated meals will be enjoyed by our customers,” said Saurabh Kochhar, CEO, Foodpanda India in an emailed statement.

Foodpanda claims to have over 12,000 menus from restaurants across over 200 cities in India. The company had entered into an association with IRCTC to enable meal pre-orders in at the New Delhi Railway Station in November 2015. The company cut its employee count by 15 percent at the end of 2015.
