Maruti Suzuki Ignis

Earlier this month, Maruti Suzuki showcased its sub-compact crossover, the Ignis concept, at the Auto Expo 2016. The car has already gone on sale in Japan and is expected to be launched in India later this year around the festive season. It has been less than a month since its debut in India and the carmaker has already started extensive road tests for the Ignis. Recently, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis was again spotted during one of these test runs which only indicates that Maruti plans to leave no stone unturned in launching the crossover in India as soon as possible.

Now, the 2 Maruti Suzuki Ignis spotted this time are believed to be both the petrol and the diesel versions of the car. While the Japanese-spec model comes with a single 1.3-litre Durajet petrol engine equipped with the company’s SHVS mild hybrid technology, in India we’ll probably get the trusted 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and possibly the CVT unit that comes with the Baleno.
