Fashion Face-Off: Sonam Kapoor Vs Kriti Sanon – Who Wore Yellow Better?

Remember when we predicted that yellow was the new black? Or rather, the new millennial pink? The dusty blush shade was spotted absolutely everywhere last year, from planners to makeup products? That’s what you can expect from yellow this year, we said just weeks ago. And here we are. It looks like our prediction is already catching up in Bollywood. At last night’s HT Most Stylish Awards, quite a few B-towners showed up on the red carpet wearing the sunshine shade. However, when we narrowed it down a bit, two Bollywood leading ladies wore the bright hue best. But who, between them, wore it better?

In this corner, we have Sonam Kapoor, revered by fashion pundits for her edgy style. She wore a gleaming yellow Hyun Mi Nielsen dress with a satin finish, frayed hem and an exaggerated single shoulder that came with a flowing train. With it, Sonam paired strappy green Aquazurra heels and a chunky choker and bracelet. Keeping all the attention on her outfit, she chose a simple pink pop of colour for her lips, bold lashes and a sleek centre-parted low ponytail. It was a look typically Sonam.

In the other corner is Kriti Sanon, a relative newcomer to Bollywood’s fashion spotlight. But don’t let that fool you; Kriti’s been steadily climbing the style charts with every appearance she makes. For the awards, she wore a bright fringed Deme By Gabriella dress, which she seemed to enjoy twirling around in. Kriti played her accessories up a bit by wearing heavy hoop earrings with an arm of bangles, a chunky ring and stilettos. Completing her ensemble was a straight low ponytail, mint nails and bronze makeup.

Now if you ask us who wore it better, we’re voting in favour for Kriti Sanon. Sonam may be Bollywoood’s resident fashion queen who works an experimental look like it’s no one’s business but with multiple elements like the hem, shoulder and train, it was difficult to keep focus on what’s going on with the look. However, Kriti’s breezy flapper dress and jangly accessories were chic without going overboard and that’s why we’re giving it two thumbs up.
