Huawei Terminal on Monday launched two new smartphones in its Honor brand – the Honor 5 and Honor Note 8 – in China. The Honor 5 is priced at CNY 599 (roughly Rs. 6,100), while the Honor Note 8 is priced starting at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,100).
The Honor Note 8 has been launched in three storage options – namely 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The 32GB variant is priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,100), the 64GB variant is priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,100), and the 128GB variant is priced at CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 28,100).
As for the specifications, the Honor Note 8 features a hybrid dual-SIM (Nano + Nano) slot, sports a fingerprint scanner, and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Emotion UI 4.1 OS. It bears a 6.6-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass protection, and up to 105 percent NTSC colour gamut. It is powered by a Kirin 955 octa-core processor paired with Mali T880-MP4 GPU, and 4GB RAM. The Honor 8’s inbuilt storage can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB).
Optics include a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, OIS, and f/2.0 aperture. There is an adjacent 8-megapixel selfie camera as well. The Honor Note 8 packs a 4500mAh battery with fast charging. The smartphone measures 178.8×90.9×7.18mm, and weighs 219 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The Honor Note 8 will be made available in Gold, Silver, and Grey colour options.
Coming to the Honor 5, it supports dual-SIM cards, and runs on Android Lollipop-based Emotion UI 3.1 Lite. It features a 5-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD IPS display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor paired with Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 16GB of inbuilt memory with the option to expand via microSD card slot (128GB).
Optics include an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED, and a 2-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash. It packs a 2200mAh battery, and offers connectivity options like 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. The smartphones measures 143.8x72x8.9mm, and weighs 138 grams. The Honor 5 will be made available in Black, White, and Gold colour options.
The Honor 5 is to go on sale in China from Tuesday, while the Honor Note 8 will hit the market on August 9. Huawei has started taking pre-orders for the Honor Note 8 smartphone.
