A new eight-month-long music programme will bring together classical musicians from around the world to perform in Abu Dhabi.

Run by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, the season includes the return of the concert series Abu Dhabi Classics (running from October 2017 to May 2018), Umsiyat (January 2018) and performances by students and graduates from Bait Al Oud.

“Our Music Programme blends classical and contemporary, spans different continents and cultures, and has a central theme of unifying different age groups and nationalities through a collective passion for music,” said Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.

The new season of Abu Dhabi Classics will kick off the programme with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra from Switzerland performing in Al Ain at Al Jahili Fort and Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace on October 12 and 13 respectively.

The music academy Bait Al Oud, where young Emiratis learn to play traditional instruments, has also planned a number of shows. As well as graduation performances, guest musicians will perform with the students for a concert at Qasr Al Muwaiji in Al Ain in December.

Umsiyat, which combines spiritual music and poetry, will begin in January 2018 with artists to be announced at a later date.
