7th pay commission: Central government has taken a big decision for recruitment to posts reserved for Divyangs (Persons with Disabilities, PwD). The government has waived off the application and examination fees for entrance examinations for candidates applying under PwD quota. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the exams to fill vacancies in the central government. Now, no fee will be charged from divyangs applying for central government jobs. Since 1 January 2016, central government employees are getting the benefit of 7th pay commission recommendations.
According to the government order, waiving off exam and application fee for divyangs was also said in an order of the Supreme Court. In 2016, the Supreme Court had ordered the government to not take fees from the Divyang applicants for recruitment on the Central Government posts. After this, the Central Government notified The Rights of Persons with disabilities rules 2017. This talked about providing quota for different posts and services of the central government on benchmark disability.

The order said that after much deliberation, the Department of Personnel has decided to continue the provision of not charging fees from divyang applicants.
