LG V20 With Android 7.0 Nougat Set to Launch on September 6

The LG V20 was earlier reported to be launched in September, but now the official launch date has been revealed. LG is hosting an event in San Francisco on September 6 to officially unveil the LG V20.

The invitation sports a colourful book with ‘Play More’ as the tagline, hinting at the smartphone’s multi-tasking capabilities, as well as possible modular functionality like the LG G5, as the company had introduced the tagline with its 2016 flagship. LG is definitely looking to revive its smartphone business, after the dismal performance of the LG G5. The flagship smartphone had weaker-than-expected sales following production difficulties, and LG reported a total operating loss of roughly $132 million in the second quarter of 2016. In its earnings announcement, the South Korean firm said that the launch of the successor of V10 will help third quarter revenue results.

The smartphone came with two separate lenses that could capture standard 80-degree selfies, or wide-angle selfies of up to 120 degrees.

LG claims the V20 will be the first smartphone to launch with Google’s new Android 7.0 Nougat version. There is not much else that is known about the smartphone so far. The final preview version of Android Nougat was out last month, and the public release is expected on Friday.

Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to come with several new features like multi-window support, enhanced notifications, revamped doze, number blocking, and a redesigned Camera app. The app will get more Grid options, and resurrect the much-missed manual exposure mode.
