Moto Z, Moto Z Play Launched in India: Price, Release Date, Specifications, and More
Lenovo India on Tuesday launched the Moto Z and Moto Z Play modular smartphones in India, along with the Moto Mods. The Moto Z has been priced at Rs. 39,999, while the Moto Z Play has been priced at Rs. 24,999. Both smartphones will be available via both Amazon India and Flipkart from 11:59pm on October 17.

The company has also detailed pricing for the Moto Mods (seen above), which connect to the rear of the smartphones via the 16-dot connector interface. If bought alone, the JBL Soundboost costs Rs. 6,999, the Moto Insta-Share Projector costs Rs. 19,999, the Hasselblad True Zoom costs Rs. 19,999, the Incipio offGRID Power Pack costs Rs. 5,999, the Wood and Ballistic Nylong Motorola Style Shell costs Rs. 1,099, while the Leather Style Shell costs Rs. 1,599.

If bought with the smartphones, the Moto Mods have a small discount. The JBL Soundboost costs Rs. 5,999, the Moto Insta-Share Projector costs Rs. 15,999, the Hasselblad True Zoom costs Rs. 14,999, the Incipio offGRID Power Pack costs Rs. 4,999, the Wood and Ballistic Nylong Motorola Style Shell costs Rs. 899, while the Leather Style Shell costs Rs. 1,299.

Both smartphones run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and have been launched in dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) variants in India. The Moto Z (seen below) will be available in Black with Lunar Grey trim, and White with Fine Gold trim colour variants. The Moto Z Play will be available in Black with Silver trim, and White with Fine Gold trim colour variants. Both smartphones also come with water-repellent nano-coating, and a fingerprint sensor on the home button.

The Moto Z sports a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) Amoled display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The smartphone bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, optical image stabilisation, and dual-LED flash. It can record 4K video at 30fps. On the front, is a 5-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture, a wide-angle lens, and its own flash.
It has been launched in its 64GB storage variant with storage expandability via microSD (up to 2TB). Connectivity options on the Moto Z include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on board, however, the company is bundling a 3.5mm-to-USB-Type-C adapter. The smartphone is powered by a 2600mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 24 hours of mixed usage battery life. With the TurboPower charger, the company says 15 minutes of charging will deliver 7 hours of battery life. It measures 153.3×75.3×5.19mm, and weighs 136 grams.

The Moto Z Play (seen below) is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It bears a 16-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus, PDAF, an f/2.0 aperture, dual-lED flash, and 4K video recording at 30fps. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture, a wide-angle lens, and its own flash. The smartphone bears 32GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port.

The smartphone bears a 3510mAh battery that’s rated to deliver up to 45 hours of mixed usage battery life, and the bundled TurboPower charger can in 15 minutes charge the phone to deliver 8 hours of battery life. It measures 156.4×76.4×6.99mm, and weighs in at 165 grams.
